Death is never timely. When it occurs, it always hurts those left behind. Grief has a ripple effect originating from the closest and moving to those close by.
It happened to Jesus. Lazarus died and Martha, Mary, and a group with them cried. Jesus even knew that He would hug His friend again, and yet Jesus wept. He was moved by the emotion of Mary and Martha, because He loved them. Jesus got caught in the ripple. Jesus wept.
Today, my sister in the Lord’s family will cry. I will get caught in the ripple of grief, because I love her. And I know that today Jesus will feel the emotion, because He hurts when we hurt. Because Jesus loves Kathryn, He will weep.
Kathryn will hug her brother again, but today it hurts.

Gary, what a wonderful way to look at this grief! I will hug my brother again. Thank you for reminding me that Jesus hurts when I hurt. You, my brother, have comforted me today.
I love you,
Kathryn
